Here’s the cover artwork for my 119th posting on my music compilation sharing site. This site is private, for friends only. Sorry. Here’s the intro and recommended playlist from this mix:I couldn’t resist doing a Christmas collection for you. Sure not all of you even celebrate the holiday, but what the heck. Merry Annual Shopping Holiday to all of you.I tried to find some Chirstmas songs that weren’t the traditional ones you are undoubtedly hearing just about everywhere that pipes in music. I didn’t want the songs to be completely bizarre though. No Dr. Demento stuff here. Great blues recordings by Charles Brown, J. B. Summer, Julie Lee, and B.B. King. Lots of vocal jazz versions of traditional and nontraditional songs by the likes of Jack Jones, Dinah Washington, Bob Francis, Kay Starr, Louis Armstrong to name a few. I heaped in some fun Motown and funky Xmas tunes as well as a couple of Indie rock songs that totally fit the compilation and the season. On that note I have to say one of the best albums of late, Christmas themed or not, has to be Sufjan Stevens “Songs for Christmas”. I could listen to this all year long. And probably will. And probably sneak songs into future mixes as well.Enjoy.1) Merry Christmas, Baby – Charles Brown from Rock Is Dead, But It Won’t Lie Down2) Lord, You Made Us Human – Dinah Washington from The Complete Dinah Washinton on Mercury, Vol. 6 (1958-60)3) I Want A Present For Christmas – J.B.
